A new school year has begun! You have probably seen some unfamiliar faces on your screen during classes. As much as we’d like to meet them face-to-face, it’s been hard getting to know them due to COVID-19. To satisfy your curiosity about these new secondary students, we have collected some intriguing facts about them.

Debrina Angelica (12th)
Debrina last attended Surabaya Intercultural School (SIS). She transferred to Welsey for her senior year.
“I knew Welsey all the way from middle school because of IISSAC, and I also knew a friend who moved to Wesley,” said Debrina.
“One thing I like about Wesley is how it feels very welcoming, and since the class sizes are small, it feels more like a community.” Debrina’s first impression of Wesley was that Welsey fielded good teams at IISSAC. It would be amazing to see her on the basketball court, shining with the Welsey stars.
The Newman sisters: Aria (8th, left); Abigail (10th, middle); Ashley (11th, right)
The Newman sisters haved lived in China in the past; they have now lived in Colorado Springs, U.S. for the past two years. When asked how they found Welsey,
Ashley replied,
“We were searching for a place to land overseas and Indonesia popped up. Malang felt like the right place and we knew some of the people who went to Wesley.” Abigail and Aria added,
“Wesley definitely had very strong TCK (Third Culture Kid) vibes, which was good. The school is also very close-knit compared to other bigger schools in America.” One fear the girls have about Indonesia is its weather; since they’re used to the cold, they’re worried whether Indonesia will be too hot for them. Hopefully, the Newman family can come to Indonesia soon and be surprised with Malang’s beautiful weather.

Harim Lee (9th)
Harim, who joined Wesley as a freshman, is currently living in Pakistan with her family.
“My old school was closing down, so I had to find another school quickly. Since my family were friends with Kyurim’s family, we found out about Wesley and decided to join.” Harim added,
“On the first day of school, I was so nervous because I was joining a new school and I was worried about the wifi connection.”
When requested to describe her personality in 3 words, she chose “positive, lazy, and weird.” We can all agree that she’ll make great friends at Wesley since the students here satisfy all of those personalities. As expected, Harim has already made friends and has been enjoying the new relationships. She hopes to move to Indonesia in December or January.
Let’s all pray that we’ll be able to meet each other face-to-face before the school year ends. We can’t wait to surprise our new students with Wesley’s one-of-a-kind charm.
