Yejin Lee (Class of 2020)

Yejin is preparing for her quarter exams recently, and here are some tips from her:

  1. Find the most efficient way to study (because it will be tough if you get lost in the materials at the beginning of school.)

  2. Start using a planner!

  3. Lastly, be independent!

“Believe in yourself and don’t get swayed by others. If you are a type of person that easily gets swayed (in a bad way), practice blocking it off.”

Yejin claimed that Wesley had helped her a lot specifically during the first year of college. “My two big classes, A&P and CHEM107, are similar in content with Dr.Laura’s A&P and Mr.Ongky’s chem.”

Felita Christian (Class of 2019)

Besides her part-time modeling job, she’s also spending time with her family since she is currently attending online school.

Senior year goes by so fast, so make sure to make the most out of it!” advises Felita. “Get to know people you haven’t really talked to, and most importantly, deepen your relationship with your classmates because you’re going to miss them a lot after you’ve graduated!”

Felita is also thankful for the critical thinking and public speaking skills she developed in Wesley. “It is something I didn’t realize was that important until after I graduated,” she said.

“Also, I never took Bible classes seriously in Wesley, but it unconsciously became a big part of my life when I moved to Australia because I had to deal with new circumstances that I couldn’t go through alone.”

Esther Cho (Class of 2018)

Esther is currently in her junior year of college in the U.S. and just got out of a pharmacology test.

Some of her biggest achievements are getting into the nursing program and being in the top 15th percentile in her class; being hired as a CGL (like a small group leader); serving on the board of the Red Cross club; successfully starting an IV line; and travelling to 10 different states so far.

Esther is thankful for the A&P class taught by Dr. Laura which helped her a lot during the first two years of her study of nursing.

“Living in Indonesia and growing up with people from different cultures helped me to be flexible, grow in understanding, and learn how to approach people from various backgrounds,” she said, “which is important if I am going to be working with other nurses and doctors and see patients all day.”

Yerim Choi (Class of 2018)

Three months after graduating from Wesley, Yerim became a crew member in a ship called Logos Hope. “Logos Hope is a vessel owned by GBA Ships e.V.”, said Yerim, “and is operated by OM (Operation Mobilization).”

Before the pandemic hit, Logos Hope was involved in various ministries that included hosting book fairs, eyeglasses distribution, sports ministries, church/school/prison visits, and so on.“The ship is now anchored in the Bahamian Seas, and we have just started sending a team to the Great Abaco, an island of Bahamas that was hit by hurricane Dorian last year.”

Yerim has a German boyfriend who is an MK from South Africa serving as the doctor onboard. “We did not have any interest in each other until the ship went under months of isolation,” Yerim said.“During that time we happened to chat for a long time about our common interest in books/music/movies/etc. Our friendship gradually grew as such chats happened more often, and eventually we started

liking each other.”

Christopher Imantaka (Class of 2017)

Chris is currently a 4th year college student studying Bachelor of Commerce Hospitality and Tourism. Being on the Dean's Honors List is one of his biggest achievements. Other than that, he also got accepted into an internship position with Marriott International.

Chris believes his career path has become clearer, However, I realized it after I went to college, and learned a thing or two about the job market and myself.”

A simple word of advice from Chris: Chill, no rush, take your time. Enjoy the little things.”

Sangjin Woo (Class of 2016)

I currently graduated from Huntington University in May and I am planning to apply to go into seminary in South Korea!”

Sangjin’s biggest achievement is serving as the Student Body President in his senior year at HU in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Sangjin believes his career is getting clearer after graduating from Christian institutions. “Wesley has prepared me to pursue those goals as it helped me to explore my interests and what I really wanted to major in after moving further in my education.”

The biggest advice from Sangjin:

“To be open-minded to changes as uncertainty will follow wherever you go, especially to college. This advice also implies that you should not be in conceit [conceited] as many things are going to be very different outside of the Wesley bubble.”
