Wesley has had a prayer system called “The Prayer Room” where students, teachers, staff members and parents could come pray or simply feel God’s presence. For about two years (2018-2020), the room ran successfully under the guidance of Hyewon Kim, the starter of the prayer room. However, the room has not been available due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, Wesley students made a new prayer system--The Prayer Board.

The Prayer Board is an Internet platform that is run by the prayer team where Wesley students can post their prayer requests anonymously. The requests will be then posted on Wesley’s Prayer Board Instagram account for everybody to see and pray for each other.

Two ways to submit your prayer requests:

  1. Instagram account: @wesleyprayerboard-- click the link in bio to submit your prayer requests.

2. Wesley Times: At the bottom of every page in the website, there is a place to submit your prayer requests.

Since the prayer requests are submitted anonymously, students can feel safe to share their struggles and ask for others to pray for them. The prayer team’s role is managing the prayer board as well as praying for all of the prayer requests together through ZOOM. We interviewed members of the prayer team to see why they decided to join the prayer team.

Q: Why did you want to join the prayer team?

Kharissa Kristi:

Every life is valuable, especially in this pandemic, and I wish more people can be protected. Never underestimate prayers since they can change lives. I want to pray for students so they can get closer to God.

Jessie Patrick:

People get caught up in school and daily life and forget what’s truly important, so I want to make sure someone is praying for those people and reminding them that they are loved and cared for... and because I love them and I want to pray blessings over them. Also, I would like to pray for any of the people who don’t know Christ at our school and pray for revival in our school.

Brenda Lewina:

I honestly didn’t think of joining this team again because I thought it was a waste of time, but now I can feel that it is God’s calling. The prayer room before was praying for revival for Wesley, and I see that happening over the last two years so I’m confident that there will be some new things happening in the future.

Seol Kang :

I was so sad when the prayer team didn’t last long [last year] and everyone did not give much attention to it. I want to start this all again and make this work. I believe that this team will actually give a positive effect to our school.

Yiseul Choi:

I really hope you guys keep the flow of worship and prayer. Since I was a part of leadership when I was in Wesley, I also want to encourage you guys, the next generation who will build a strong foundation of faith for the generations after you.

Seongmin Kim:

Wesley's faculty members should really bond and stay strong together especially during current situations when we can easily lose our faith. I just wanted to pray for others when others prayed for me.

Timothy Christian:

I'm interested because during a hard time like this we need to be there for each other. And I just want to help my friends in the Wesley community.
