On September 18th, Wesley School had an online Kick-Off hosted by the seniors. Due to Coronavirus and social distancing, it is a well-known fact that students will not attend school physically this year, meaning that the yearly events hosted by the ASB could be cancelled. The seniors therefore decided to act on this problem and host their own event. When asked who had the idea to create this online event, it was revealed that Timothy Christian was the one to introduce the idea.

“I thought the event would be a time to get to know other students, and have a fun time together in the midst of a pretty depressing school year,” Timothy said in the interview.

Usually, it is pretty easy to interact with the new students, but the situation we are currently in doesn’t make that easy. The goal of Kick-Off was to help the new students get more comfortable with Wesley students. Overall, It was a great and helpful idea from Timothy.

When asked why he thought of hosting Kick-Off, Tim said, “I wanted to have a Kick-Off because seeing how boring online school was going to be, I wanted to do something fun... I also was pretty bummed out that my senior year would be online, so I wanted to make the best of it, despite the circumstances.”

The Kick-off turned out to be a fantastic first online event. All of the students who were interviewed thought the Kick-Off was unexpectedly fun! They said all the games were excellent! Even though it wasn’t the in-person Kick-Off we were hoping for, the students answered that they felt a little more connected with everyone.

Because of Covid-19, the students will miss out on several events this year. It is great that Timothy, like all the seniors, is trying to make the best of his senior year. He even has more plans for events this year! Thanks, seniors!
